The Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail began a project in the Fall of 2022 to address deteriorated trail surface conditions due to factors like tree root intrusion, weathering, and heavy usage. The trail surface contained multiple bumps and potholes causing injuries and an uncomfortable experience.
This ongoing work has been made possible through the support of donors. Donate today to help us complete this project.
Restoration Activities
- Trail Bump Removal: FoMVT volunteers use an EDCO CPM-8 Creteplaner to grind bumps caused by root heaves.
- Pothole Filling: FoMVT volunteers use asphalt cold path to fill potholes on the trail to create a smoother surface.
- Crack Filling: FoMVT volunteers use a crack filler machine to apply hot filler to cracks on the trail.
