Group Volunteer Opportunities

Are you a group interested in volunteering? The Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail believes that the Mount Vernon Trail and the George Washington Memorial Parkway should be enjoyed by all and that everyone should be given the opportunity to be a steward of the park. With 18 miles of trail crossing Arlington, Alexandria, and Fairfax counties, volunteer events are easily accessible by those living in Washington DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.

Volunteers activities include: removing invasive vegetation, picking up trash, trail edging, and removing branches.

Frequently Asked Questions

Anyone and everyone can volunteer. Volunteers have ranged in age from 2 to 85 years old. No training is required.

How can my group volunteer?

Signing up to volunteer as a group is easy. Check out the list of upcoming volunteer events on our website and have members of your group register to attend via EventBrite.

If you plan on having more than 20 people come on a particular weekend, just let us know via email so we can better prepare supplies and promote your group’s attendance on social media.

If there is a particular date that your group has in mind that is not on the website, please send us an email letting us know the dates and expected number of volunteers so we can try to accommodate the request.
